Theatre as Social Critique in Select Nineteenth-Century Indian Plays

As an imitation of actions, theatre is representational. Different aspects performative arts like are a reflection the contemporary age in which they written and performed. Theatre Calcutta, India, nineteenth century started being influenced by colonial European models. The changes brought modernity major tropes many plays that time. Colonial English education, western liberal ideas new lifestyle, attracted youth made them criticize old traditional ways. Krishnamohan Bandyopadhyay’s (also spelt as Krishna Mohana Banerjea) Persecuted Michael Madhusudan Dutt’s Ekei Ki Bole Sabbhyata?
